Mrs. Michele Alday-Engelman has served as a teacher and administrator in elementary schools for twenty-six years, five of which were served in Catholic Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Education from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She is also a doctoral candidate in the Administration and Supervision Program at Loyola University Chicago, and she is on course to earn her Doctorate in Education this May. Mrs. Alday-Engelman’s teaching career includes eleven years as a teacher at Von Humboldt School in Chicago, where she taught fourth- through eighth grade. She then spent ten years as the Assistant Principal of North River School in Chicago, where she continued to act as a teacher of seventh- and eighth-grade language arts. Mrs. Alday-Engelman brought her extensive administrative experience with her to Catholic Schools when she began working as the Principal of St. Stanislaus Kostka in the Archdiocese of Chicago. She and her family are active members of St. John Brebeuf in Niles. Mrs. Alday-Engelman remains dedicated to advancing the educational experience of all students as she joins the St. Mary community as the new Principal of St. Mary School.
