SPRING SCHOOL NOTES

Spring is finally here and the seventh graders are looking forward to completing the last quarter of the year. The Science Fair competition is over for all but 5 of our students who have made it to the state level—Good Luck!

The boys are continuing with their volleyball season, which is the end of athletics for the year. All 7th graders have begun to prepare for Confirmation; they are busy working to complete their service hours needed for the sacrament they receive next February. Our boys performed the last—and best—act of our annual student talent show. They really brought down the house with their rendition of the Napoleon Dynamite dance. The entire junior high is eligible to perform in the annual St. Mary Spring Show. This year many of the students have auditioned for and won several parts in the production of HELLO DOLLY.

As the 7th graders prepare for the transition into 8th grade, their St. Mary tradition is to put on the Eighth Grade Banquet. The parents have been busy for the past 8 months planning this spectacular event at the end of May. The job of the 7th grade is to serve the graduates and their parents and then enjoy the dance with the 8th graders.

Academically, the class will be busy reading 2 novels as the year comes to a close, as well as doing their best in math, in order to be eligible for the high math class in 8th grade. Although the thermometer may still say winter, spring is on the minds of the class; after all, they are in the home stretch before becoming the leaders of St. Mary School in a few months!
