Mrs. McInerney's third grade students are very busy for the the months of April and May! The children just began another novel study. This time, they are reading E.B.White's "Charlotte's Web". The students are enjoying this wonderful classic story about an odd friendship between a spider and a pig. The students love to work together in lit circles and discuss characters, story events, and even make predictions. The class just wrote acrostic poems about Wilbur, the pig and will soon be creating character maps for one of their favorite characters in "Charlotte's Web". Not only have these brilliant students been reading, but they are doing an outstanding job in mathematics. The class has just mastered multiplying two, three, and four-digit numbers together to find the correct product! WOW!!!
Both third grade classrooms are in charge of the B.E.S.T. project for the month of April. The children decided to go "green"for Earth Day. Both classes will be hand decorating light-weight totes to promote the importance of recycling. Each bag is decorated with an unique picture and this very important message., "Growing in God's Word-Protecting God's World". All proceeds made during this project will be donated to Keep America Beautiful.
Finally, and most importantly, the children are spending time learning about one of the sacraments of initiation - Eucharist. Please keep them in your prayers, as they prepare to make their First Holy Communion on May 3, 2008.
