During fourth quarter, second grade has been learning about government and the importance of rules and laws. We have discussed how rules and laws help to resolve conflict, identified leaders and groups that make rules and laws, and talked about how we vote for these leaders. During these discussions the second graders realized that they have already been part of a voting process this school year. They now understand that when they voted for student council representatives they helped in selecting students that they thought would make good leaders for our school.
Second grade is continuing to learn how to write the alphabet in cursive. We started second semester with the vowels and have since moved on to the consonants. We will stay working with cursive and see if we can get through the entire alphabet!!
At the end of April students will be putting together their own timeline. Students will be choosing five important events that have happened in their lives. They will be documenting this event with a title, a date, and a photo. I am very excited about this project and am eager to learn more about each one of my students.
