Our Mission Statement

St. Mary School, a ministry of St. Mary Parish, is a Catholic elementary school which is called to carry out the mission that Jesus began, by living our faith through serving God and one another. We provide a nurturing environment where faith, education, and moral values are promoted and reinforced. Through cooperation and partnership with each family, we prepare our children for the future with spiritual and academic excellence that cultivates their belief in Jesus Christ.



Goals and Objectives for 2008-2009



Catholic Identity
Goal I: To recognize, foster, and exhibit our role in carrying out God’s will
Objectives:
1. Celebrate the unifying school wide theme: “Living as Champions of Faith”
• Each Faith Family will choose a Champion of Faith
• Begin each day on PA with Saint of the day
• Each class will create ways to Live as Champions of Faith to be shared daily on PA
2. Provide meaningful Faith experiences throughout the year
3. Promote a sense of Christian community with Faith Families
4. Encourage acceptance and tolerance of differences in each other
5. Demonstrate our Christian values through the practice of polite and respectful manners and behaviors.

Curriculum
Goal II: To develop critical thinking through engaged learning
Objectives:
1. Incorporate Trimester grading periods
2. Implement new Social Studies series in grades 1 through 4
3. Provide opportunities for continuous Staff development
4. Implement new strategies in differentiated instruction
5. Offer multi-grade cooperative activities with Faith Families
6. Implement Spanish program during recess
7. Offer Math tutor during recess
8. Provide Accelerated Math program in grades 7 and 8
9. Pilot Simple Solutions Math Program in grades 3, 6 and 7
10. Implement History Alive Social Studies supplement in junior high
11. Assess students in kindergarten through grade 3 reading needs through D.I.B.E.L.S.

Technology Integration
Goal III: To utilize technology as a seamless tool across the curriculum
Objectives:
1. Provide IMac training for faculty, staff, and students
2. Communicate through teleconferencing
3. Create pod casts
4. Utilize computer generated report cards kindergarten through 8 using Teacher Ease
5. Infuse United Streaming throughout the curriculum.
6. Communicate with parents via Schoolnotes.com and web pages regularly
7. Arrange individual faculty meeting time to ascertain technology needs
8. Subscribe to Education City K – 5 to enhance Math, Reading, and Science
9. Add computers to each classroom for student use

Community
Goal IV: To strengthen community relations through outreach and active involvement.
Objectives:
1. Involve students in monthly community service projects with B.E.S.T.
(Building Esteem in Students Today)
2. Invite community leaders to speak on how they are Champions in the community
3. Foster responsible independent actions and manners.
4. Increase Social Justice awareness locally and globally.
5. Expand our school community through open house and adding another new classroom of students every year
6. Provide parent professionals opportunities to provide Junior Achievement
7. Teach students about civic responsibility through mock election
